A Visit to Hawaii
In late August, we visited the church in Honolulu, Hawaii—one of the most geographically remote congregations in our Association. Pastor Pavel Marchenko welcomed us warmly. We shared a blessed worship service, during which we presented the missionary ministry of the Pacific Coast Slavic Baptist Association and joined the congregation in observing the Lord’s Supper.
After the presentation, people approached me with questions. We discussed how each of them could become actively involved in missionary ministry.
Communion was held a week earlier than usual that day. The church had planned an outdoor retreat for early September so that everyone could spend more time in fellowship. Fellowship is an important part of this congregation’s life: every Sunday after the service, people stay to connect over a cup of coffee.
Hawaii has many immigrants, and new families continue to arrive. The church has many young people and young families. The pastor asked us to remember this congregation and keep it in our prayers.
