On Saturday, March 29th, 2025, the women of Good News Church, Tacoma, along with friends from near and far, came together for an incredible Women’s Conference. The day was filled with heartfelt worship, sweet fellowship, and powerful teaching that pointed us back to saying “Here I am” to God. We were so blessed to have Dennise Glenn with us, an amazing speaker and author, who shared deep biblical truth, personal stories, and real-life encouragement that hit home for so many of us.
We started the morning with worship that really set the tone and helped us focus our hearts. Throughout the day, we had meaningful moments of connection, fun activities, and chances to reflect. But the highlight for many was the teaching: Dennise brought the Word in such a clear, relatable way, full of wisdom and warmth that really resonated with us.
SESSION 1: God's Calling and the Burning Bush Moments
Dennise opened with an overview of Moses' life, showing how God strategically prepared him in three 40-year segments:
- First 40 years: Raised in Pharaoh’s palace, Moses learned leadership, culture, and influence.
- Second 40 years: As a shepherd, he learned humility, survival, and how to lead difficult people.
- Third 40 years: At age 80, God called him to lead Israel out of Egypt—his greatest assignment began when most would be retiring.
Dennise emphasized that God uses "burning bushes"—attention-getters—to redirect our lives, based on our unique gifting. For Moses, it was the burning bush at Mount Horeb. For Dennise, it was a moment in 2001 when her book Wisdom for Mothers was translated into Russian, leading to 12+ ministry trips to Moscow. She reminded us that bilingualism and other talents are spiritual gifts that can be used for ministry.
The call of God is personal. He calls us by name, as He did with “Moses, Moses.” God wants us to respond not with excuses, but with “Here I am”—a blank check of surrender.
SESSION 2: Confronting Modern Idolatry: Lessons from Elijah
This session featured a powerful message connecting Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal to our own battles with modern-day idols.
The speaker shared how God withheld rain in ancient Israel for three years to get the people's attention, just as He sometimes allows difficulty in our lives to turn our focus back to Him. She unpacked two levels of idolatry:
- Deep idols like the need for acceptance, control, or significance
- Surface idols like beauty, romantic love, success, or even children
Through her own testimony—of surrendering the dream of motherhood, only to later be blessed with three daughters—she showed how letting go often leads to both spiritual breakthrough and blessing.
We were reminded that true worship requires purifying our hearts, identifying idols, and returning fully to God.
SESSION 3: Letting Go of Control and Embracing God’s Plan
In her final session, Dennise took us through the story of Abraham and Isaac at Mount Moriah, showing how obedience sometimes means releasing what is most precious. Through the lens of her own life—including ministry adventures in Indonesia and personal surrender—she illustrated the principle of “letting go of the precious to receive the priceless.”
Dennise closed by encouraging women to embrace unexpected ministry adventures by simply being willing to say, “Here I am.”
The conference ended with a renewed sense of purpose and calling. As Dennise so beautifully said, “You don’t stop until God tells you to stop.” Every woman left with the challenge to turn aside to notice the “burning bushes” in their lives, to respond with an open heart, and to trust that God is writing a story far bigger than we can imagine.
To God be the glory for a truly unforgettable day of inspiration, conviction, and renewed commitment.
