Happy Easter dear brothers and sisters! Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed!
The events associated with the resurrection of Jesus Christ point to our tendencies to forget the Word of God. As a result of this, doubts, weakness of faith, and fear begin to have a foothold in a life of a Christian. As the angel was speaking to women who came to the tomb, he said: “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here. He is risen; remember how he spoke to you.” (Luke 24:5-6) And then the angel repeated the words of Jesus Christ which He spoke to them in Galilee. And they “remembered His words.” (Luke 24:8)
We are prone to be forgetful and need to be reminded of the words of Jesus Christ. Our confidence in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and our readiness to testify to others depend on this. “The women returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the others.” (Luke 24:9)
In order to have a true joy of Easter and be able to fellowship with the risen Lord, we need to constantly read the Word of God as we dedicate ourselves to prayer and fellowshipping with our Lord. Only then will the “burning of our hearts” become personal, unique, and unforgettable. Two disciples who were traveling to Emmaus treasured their experiences for the rest of their lives. At the end of his life, Apostle Paul wrote words of encouragement to his young ministry companion, Timothy: “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my Gospel”. (2 Timothy 2:8)
May the memories of the Lord, Who rose from the dead, be the foundation of our faith, hope, and love, not only in this temporary life, but also the foundation of our confidence in eternal life in our new and glorified bodies! This is where our confidence is!
Christ is risen indeed!
